YOU CAN'T GO BACK

You can't go back is a saying,
That I never understood.
Until the day, that I returned,
To the place of my childhood.

I remember there, where I was raised,
Amongst the apple trees,
How the blossoms were like bouquets,
With their fragrence on every breeze.

Their was a little dusty lane,
That led down to a brook,
With a small rock wall, behind it,
On this pathway that I took.

I used to like to wade in it,
And cross to the other side.
I'd climb that little hill of woods,
And play "pretend and hidel"

I'd wander through the orchard,
When on my way back home,
And dream of all the places,
Out there, for me to roam.

I'd kick at clumps of orchard grass,
In rows all freshly mowed,
Surrounded by those apple trees,
In this place where I had growed.

Ten years had quickly slipped away,
And then I made  a trip back home,
The place was hard to recognize,
With orchards wild, and overgrown.

That dusty lane, I used to walk,
It still was partiallly therel
But, remembering, "How it used to be,"
Was almost more than I could bear.

So, when I hear, "You can't go back,"
I now know what it means,
But then, I found I could go back,
In my memories and dreams.

"You can't go back," how true that is,
Yhe "past" is not "today,
But warm thoughts of our past,
Can help us live a better way.

REFLECTIONS TO FAMILY

Your mother is a Christian,
And a Christian never dies;
But returns unto the Father,
While her love lives on inside.
*****
Oh Father, this I earnestly pray,
Stay with each child, throughout the day;
And when temptations, their face do show,
Please guide them how You'd have them go.
*****
When you start to learn,
You start: A, B, C;
Once your letters are known,
It's the words that you see.
*****
Love and understanding
Are like a bouncing ball,
Which can only be caught,
After you have let it fall.
*****
Share a little laughter,
A smile or wave will do.
'Twill brighten up another's day,
And make you happy, too.
*****
To pray, first close your mind,
And open your heart,
And the words to God,
You will impart.
*****
When you go to count your blessings,
Each and every one,
And you think your count is finished,
God has just begun.
*****
A Christian friend is very rarel
They don't just take, they also share.
They quietly help, though it may not show,
And by lending a hand, help others to grow.

RAIN FELL DOWN

Rain fell down on a cold dismal day,
While a battle raged inside.
A valiant soul tried to flee the body,
Which on a bed did lie.

It wasn't an easy fight to win,
For the body struggled to keep
This life which had suffered so long inside,
From getting beyond it's reach.

Away from the pain and the heartaches,
From the tears so silently cried.
This fight went on, day in, night out,
For it didn't want to die.

That body fought, and tried to stop
This soul from getting away.
But, the Lord stepped in, and the battle was won,
While her loved ones watched and prayed.

Rain fell down on a cold dismal day,
But, now the battle's won.
Bright flowers lay against the ground,
But the soul is with the Son.

STILL

If my mouth could not speak,
Still, He is the Living Word.
If my ears could not hear,
Still, my prayers would all be heard.

If my eyes should lose their sight,
Still, my heart would let me see.
If my body lost it's motion,
Still, my soul would set me free.

If my memory should leave me,
With my Saviour, I will be,
For He's always there to guide me,
Since He gave His life for me.

If my life be taken from me,
Still, I'll live eternally.
Turn your life over to Jesus,
And His love will set you free.

THE ANSWER

Once I had a problem
That was just too large to bear.
I thought and fough to solve it,
But found no answer anywhere.

I searched and searched for a way out,
And done all that I could do,
But this problem was just too tough for one,
And near broke my heart in two.

So then, I asked God to help me,
To face whatever I must bear,
And put my problem in His hands,
With all His love and strength to share.

He helped me to decide and accept,
His will, whatever it be;
For I know it will all lead to good,
Because of the love, He has for me.

So, share your troubles with the Lord,
And you'll find, as I do,
That when it's just too big for one,
The burden's eased, when shared by two.

ANOTHER WAY TO PRAY

Oh Father, is it you or me,
That puts these words this way?
Or is it us, together,
And just another way to pray.

Please let the folks who read this verse,
Understand the meaning there.
Not word by word, but all of it,
Let the message to them be clear.

Not to confuse, but just to help,
The pain, whatever it be,
To know that no one's ever alone,
Unless they want to be.

Not my will, but thy will,
Is the way that we should pray,
And ask for help to keep us on,
The path You've set our way.

YOU ARE IN THE BIBLE

When you sit and read your Bible, and you know God's Word is true,
You are learning about Jesus, and are reading about you.
The Bible is God's Holy Word, the Truth for all to see,
How Jesus saved us all from sin, when He died at Calvary.

Even in all His grief and pain, He was speaking out to you.
He said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."
So, when you read of the ones He healed, and the ones who refused to see,
You'll think they are familiar, for "they" are the same as you and me.

Yes, you are in the Bible, individually,
And Jesus leaves the choice to you, your faith can set you free.
Free from all your past sins, free to start anew,
Feeling a peace you never believed, would ever come to you.

Read your Bible carefully, and let God come to you,
Through our Lord, Jesus Christ, and see all He can help you do.

A PRAYER IS ANSWERED

This is just to thank you for the time you took that day,
To help me find the strength to face whatever came my way.
You sat there on the sofa, I sat there on the floor,
Then you asked the Lord to help me, and He's done so, more and more.

The doctors said there wasn't any more that they could do,
But you taught me how to pray, and God has pulled him through.
The doctors said, "No pressure, physical and mental, too,
Might retard the emphesema, and the cerebral strokes, subdue."

We sold our house so that our obligations could be paid,
But leaving all our friends behind, was the hardest move we made.
Now, we own a little trailer, on a lot that's paid for, too,
Up here, on Lake Texoma, and thank God, we're pulling through.

It's been a long time since I wrote a "poem" in this way,
But it came, when we were at church, and I'd sent a prayer your way.
We don't know how long we have, but are thankful for what we do.
It may be years, or months, or days, but God is with us, thanks to you.

MEMORIES

Memories, both good and bad;
Some are happy, some are sad.
Memories that we turn to;
Thinking back, can make us blue.

Memories can help to show,
Just which way we need to go.
But, then they can also hide,
Right from wrong; we must decide.

Memories can fade "bad times" to give,
"Good times" another chance to live.
Memories work either way,
For we have the final say.

How we act, and what we do,
Makes another memory, too.

A MOTHER'S FINAL PRAYER

Don't sorrow for me, though my mind may be gone,
And left this body, which still lingers on.
I remembered God's promise to all of mankind,
And left, just a little ahead of time.

Though a burden of love, to my body you bear.
Just try to remember, I'm not really there.
The machinery's still running, but my soul's gone ahead.
Don't sorrow for me, as there's no word as dead.

This body of sorrow, disappointment, and pain,
Are all left behind, as I'm on a new plain.
When God and our Saviour are ready for you,
Don't sorrow for me, for I'll be there, too..

A DAY CAN SEEM SO LONG

I wonder sometimes, how I'll make it, when my partner's gone.
Our lives together, are as one, and a day can seem so long.
But then, I say a little prayer, to God, to lead the way,
And know that love is never lost, just sometimes tucked away.

We all need love, so then I pray I'll have a chance to give,
To those who need some faith and love, and help them want to live.
And so I think if I should go, before my partner could,
Our love would somehow find it's way, to where it does some good.

LORD, LORD, YOU CALL ME LORD

Lord, Lord, you call me Lord, you see Me everyday.
And yet, you seem to find it hard, to believe the things I say.
You see me in the ripples, on the lake, and in the sea.
You see Me when the branches sway, in a strong or gentle breeze.

You see me in the sunshine, and when my bow appears.
You see me when it's raining, as through a mist of tears.
You see me in a baby's smile, I'm there in all your joys.
You see me in the laughter, shared by little girls and boys.

And when sorrows surround you, sickness or death appear,
Why don't you know I'm with you, for I am always near.
Lord, Lord, you call Me Lord, you see Me everyday,
But still, it seems so hard for you, to believe in what I say.

HELP ME SHARE

You've shared my pain and tears with me,
Now help me share, for all to see.
The gift I have, I must keep giving,
For my heart and soul to keep on living.

When things go wrong, I call on you,
Now, help me give of myself, too.
I used to feel a little proud,
I could sing high, clear, and loud.

But now, I find my voice is low,
The shock was great, and tear did flow.
I thought my world had come apart,
I asked my Lord to heal my heart.

And then, I found a peace within,
"I" must bow down, for God to win.
Now, I can sing a supporting part,
And things are well within my heart

"BUT LORD......"

He gave me poems and songs to sing, but I didn't think I could.
But Lord, I have no sense of timing, and I am not that good.
But Lord, I've tried to play piano, and strum a guitar string;
Then I "discovered" a new instrument, and I could play that thing.

But Lord, my voice is not strong enough, and can so easily crack;
Then I wound up with a sound system, microphone, and all of that.
But Lord, I can not do it, folks wouldn't understand.
The message is so different, not popular to man.

I'd try to share these poems and songs, for someone else to sing.
I sent them to different publishers, and tried all sorts of things.
But still, I found no open door, and had all these poems to share;
So where, and when, and how, Lord, I'm leaving in your care.

I pray for understanding, both mine, and others, too.
But Father, we both know, I'm singing these songs for You.
There's a message and a warning, for those with ears to hear;
Then eyes to see, will search Your Word, and know not to fear.

DEATH HAS NO STING

Man's debt to God, which must be paid,
Through Jesus, was the payment made.
On Calvary's cross, His life bestowed,
To clear the debt that we had owed.

Only through Christ, can man be free,
To live the life 'twas meant to be.
Death has no sting, no fear for me,
With God, through Jesus, I will be.

WHAT IS PRAYER?

What is prayer?  It's just like talking,
With your best friend as you go walking.
If on a bus, or in a crowd,
You needn't even pray outloud.

A silent thought, the Lord will hear,
Because of Christ, He's always near.
The Cross has bridged that gap that was
Keeping the Lord from reaching us.

Because of Christ, your prayers now can,
Be answered by the great "I Am."
He walks beside you, everyday,
And knows the thoughts you never say.

Belief in the Son, who died for you,
Lets prayers be heard, and answered, too.

THIS IS WHY HE DIED

Take your sins and troubles to the Cross,
Where Christ was crucified,
And lay them down beside it,
For this is why He died.

And as you walk away, you'll find,
A narrow path to tread.
But, with Jesus walking by yourside,
There's nothing you need dread.

Sometimes you may be lonely,
On this way that leads to God.
But Christ will keep you safely,
On this path that must be trod.

LIFE, LOVE, AND MEMORY

Jesus died to pay the price,
That gave us back eternal life.
So now, life, love, and memory,
The best three things in life are free.

There is no price on life to pay,
Except you live it, day by day.
It cannot be bought or sold,
Or held by use of force or gold.

The love you  have, was got by giving,
And memories made to share through living.
Our mind fades out "bad times" to give,
"Good times" a second chance to live.

So do not fear, or dread to be;
This way leads to eternity.
Only through Jesus, will you find,
Your way back to God, and peace of mind.

THE PRICE

Through sin we have come, but with glory we go.
Our Lord paid the price, and by this, saved our soul.
The Cross where He died, is the price that He paid,
His love was so strong, 'twas His life that He gave.

So, now there is hope, for all who believe.
Because Christ gave His all, God's blessings, we receive.
The Cross is a symbol to all of mankind,
Of how great love can be, to save those who are blind.

THERE'S ALWAYS A WAY

Whenever you think,
That your life leads no way,
Just think of the Cross,
And remember to pray.

All our lives have a purpose,
And it's our duty to find,
What He wants us to do:
Don't ignore, or be blind.

There's always a way,
Though your life seem so hard.
Since Christ  gave His life,
You can depend on God.

WE WALK ON THROUGH LIFE

We walk on through life
With the Lord as our guide.
Though we falter and waiver,
He takes it in stride.

He picks us up,
When we fall down.
When we wander off,
He turns us around.

Though life may not seem to be
Just what you want it to,
It may be God turning you around,
So that He can come to you.

TOMORROW

Tomorrow is another day,
A chance to act a different way.
If bitterness is on your mind,
Then, love and truth, you will not find.

Upon the Cross, Christ's blood was shed,
And then, God's Son rose from the dead.
An act of "Grace" and mercy, too,
A Christian, it can make of you.

There is a choice of paths to take,
And we must this decision, make.
The old, dead life, He will make clean,
If we trust, and on the Cross, do lean.

THE CROSS LEADS TO THE OPEN DOOR

The Cross leads to the "open door," that Jesus left for you.
He gave His life upon the Cross, to open that door for you.
Believe in the Cross, and you will find, the only way that's true.
To lead you to the "open door," that Jesus left for you.

Just follow the Cross, and He'll clear the way for you.
You'll find peace of mind, as He helps you enter through.
Believe in the Cross, and He'll help you make it through.
The only way to God,  is this path, Christ left for you.

HE'S ONLY A STEP AWAY

Jesus is holding His hand out to you,
He's holding it out, today.
Jesus is holding His hand out to you,
He's only a step away.

Did you know that Jesus died for you,
So that your life could be saved?
The blood He shed, washed your sins away,
So your peace with God, could be made.

He died on the Cross, at Calvary,
Now, our debt to God is paid.
He gave His life to show His love,
So our lives could all be saved.

So, do not turn away from Him,
Or say, "Maybe, some other day."
But take the hand He's offering you,
And trust in the Lord, today.

We know not just how long we have,
Be it years, or months, or days.
So, take the hand He's offering you,
He's only a step away.

SECRET TEARS

Sometimes in life, we've secret fears,
For which we've shed some secret tears.
And as we go along our way,
We're overwhelmed, and cannot pray.

Things seem so bad, there's no way out,
The truth seems lost, there's only doubt.
But don't give up, your way will lead,
To someone else, with greater need.

For if you'll stop along your way,
You'll find for others, you can pray.
And as you lend that helping hand,
You'll find that God does understand.

Your fears and tears,
May still be there,
But you'll find peace,
With God, through prayer.

A CHALLENGE

Life and the world,
Are a challenge to me.
With the Lord as my guide,
There's so much I can be.

ON JUDGING OTHERS

Have we gone so far,
That there is no way,
For compassion and mercy,
On Judgement Day.

Alone, we must stand,
For what we do and say,
So let's not judge each other,
Or for this, we will pay.

"Who are thou that judges
Another man's servant?"
In the Bible's the answer,
For all those observant.

"To his own master,
He standeth or falleth,"
Not by man, but by God,
Can this be resolveth.

"Yea, he shall be holden up,
For God is able to make him stand."
Is your righteousness so great,
That for another, you can command?

TAKE UP YOUR CROSS (THE CROSS OF CHRIST)

"Tale up your cross, and follow me,"
I heard my master, say.
And yet, this question comes to me,
"What does this mean, today?"

The cross I bear, burdens and cares,
Are not the ones I bore;
When first I knelt beside the Cross,
And found my Lord, once more.

My sins forgiven, my life renewed,
His "Grace" has set me free.
So, I'll share my life and love for all,
And pray, you too, will see,
.

The cross I bear, I bear with love,
So that you may also find,
That only through the Cross of Christ,
Can you find peace of mind.

SEE THE RAINBOW

Lift your eyes and see the rainbow,
That's above this dismal gray.
Lift your eyes and see the rainbow,
Shining down on you, today.

Lift your eyes and see the rainbow,
With it's many colored hue.
Lift your eyes and see the rainbow,
That was sent by God to you.

When your heart is heavy laden,
And your life's a dismal gray;
Lift your eyes and see the rainbow,
And your fears will fade away.

It is like our life eternal,
You can't touch it, but it's there.
Lift your eyes and see the rainbow,
It's a sign that God does care.

Lift your eyes and see the rainbow,
That's above this dismal gray.
Lift your eyes and see the rainbow,
And your fears will fade away.

THE FINAL STEP

In my own private world,
I'll wait awhile,
'Till your sorrow for me,
Is calm and mild.

Then, when I take
The final step,
God's will for me,
You'll now accept.

g    g     f     e   c   c    e     g   f      f         f
Or will you fall away, like the five virgins did,

d      d   d    c       a   f      g  e   c   f
a       a   a    g       e   c     d  -   d   c
And be deceived by the "deceitful one."

                                             D
God's truth is like honey, the Bible complete,
       A                                   E
So sweet, and a food to the soul,
                  A                            D
But, when you try to share this truth that you found,
          A              E             A
How bitter it can be going down.
            E     A                                          D
Those with eyes who can see, those with ears who can hear,
        A                                      E
Will search His Word, and will find,
                A                               D
So many stories untold, that He wants you to know,
                A               E               A
So you'll wait 'till the "true Jesus comes.

      E  A
Many people who love Jesus,
        D
Are going to be mislead,
                       A
Because they did not study all His Word,
        E
And know what our Father said.
          A
Their lamps are only half full,
          D
And they will fall away,
                 A
When the false "jesus" appears,
                     E                           A
And they believe what he has to say.

And then, when the true Jesus comes,
           D
Their shame will be more than they can bear,
                   A
And they'll wish for mountains to fall on their head,
                E                                                             A
Because they'd been deceived by what another had said.

                                       D
So sweet going down, so bitter coming out,
        A                                              E
But still, God's Word is music to my soul.
  A                                               D
I'll share my song with you, it may bring a smile or frown,
         A                                                 E       A   D   E    A
But, maybe, one with ears to hear, will search 'till truth be found.

The chords are right. The melody shows the correct up and down level of notes, but it is very hard to sound out the actual notes on an omnichord    However, this is the melody that came with the words as I "heard" them

SECRET TEARS

Sometimes in life, we've secret fears,
For which we've shed some secret tears.
And as we go along our way,
We're overwhelmed, and cannot pray.

Things seem so bad, there's no way out,
The truth seems lost, there's only doubt.
But don't give up, your way will lead,
To someone else, with greater need.

For if you'll stop along your way,
You'll find for others, you can pray.
And as you lend that helping hand,
You'll find that God does understand.

Your fears and tears,
May still be there,
But you'll find peace,
With God, through prayer.

THE BIBLE

A Christian goes to Church to hear
What the minister has to say.
But, if it's not there in the Bible,
Then, he's apt to go astray.

The Bible is the 'Final Word,'
To settle any doubt;
But, don't stop with a verse or two,
You must search the answer out.

Never go by just what one verse says,
'Till you've read the chapter, through.
It may mean something different,
Than what you first had thought it to.

The Bible is your Guidebook,
And Christ, your Morning Star.
The Cross points out the way which leads,
To the Father, whose people we are

THINK BEFORE YOU ACT

There's a difference between helping
And being a crutch.
Instead of doing too little,
You may be doing too much.

More harm can be done,
If, through helping, you weaken
The life of the one
Who you're trying to strengthen.d

Everybody in life,
For himself, must decide,
The way he will go,
Let God be the guide.
