WHAT IS CHRISTMAS

It's only October,(November)
And yet, I find,
The stores decked out
For Christmas time.

Trees and gay ornaments,
Ribbons and bows;
Bright lights and tinsel,
All lined up in rows.

But then, "What is Christmas?"
It's hard to define,
With all it's traditions
And wrappings in mind.

Stockings and presents,
Homes to attend;
Have we lost the meaning
Of Christmas?.....But then,

A nativity scene
On some mantle may stand,
To show there's still something
Remembered by man.

It's a promise fullfilled,
By the Lord, up above.
A "Beginning of life,"
As proof of His love.

A man must be born,
Live sinless, then die,
For payment of sins,
Saving both you and I.
